TEST METHOD DESCRIPTIONS
Burst Strength:
Fabric is clamped side to side and a rubber diaphragm pushes from the bottom of the fabric until it bursts.
Puncture Strength:
Fabric is clamped side to side and a rubber probe pushes down on the fabric till it punctures.
Grab Tensile Strength:
Fabric is clamped top to bottom and the top clamp rises till fabric tears.
Grab Elongation:
Same test as above, however the value is measured right before the fabric tears.
Trapezoidal Tear Strength:
Fabric is cut 1/8” on the bottom corner and then clamped top to bottom and the top clamp rises till fabric tears.
Water Flow, Permittivity & Permeability:
These are the same tests, just different formulas to arrive at different values. Fabric is suspended in a tube and water is added to the top and the rate at which it flows through the fabric is measured.
AOS:
Fabric is put into a sieve with sized glass beads on top then shaken to measure what quantity passes through.
